The ancient piece symbolizes the sun of Vergina.

It is a symbol discovered by Greek archaeologist Manólis Andrónikos in a Macedonian royal tomb attributed to Alexander the Great's father, Philip II.

It is a stylized star or sun, composed of a circle surrounded by sixteen rays.
